Why FSC Certified Packaging?
Clark’s Botanicals was an early pioneer of botanically-based skincare when we originated in the early 2000s. We have a profound respect for nature and our central mission is to put nature first in both our formulas and our packaging. We continue to feature skin-loving botanicals and to prioritize environmental responsibility across our development process and our packaging.
One of the best ways for a manufacturer relying on paper goods to be environmentally responsible is to use only FSC certified paper or boxes. FSC stands for the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) which is a global organization that evolved when the 1992 Earth Summit in Rio failed to produce an agreement to stop deforestation. In response to this failure, a group of forward-thinking businesses, environmentalists and community leaders collaborated on a revolutionary concept: a voluntary and market-based solution to improve forestry practices everywhere.
Since then, they’ve set the gold standard for sustainable forest management around the world. Their process enables forest owners, communities and businesses to jointly make decisions on issues impacting forests, ensuring inclusivity in finding the best solutions.
The Council has 10 core principles around which they base their decisions:
- Compliance with the laws
- Worker’s rights and employment conditions
- Indigenous Peoples’ rights
- Community relations
- Benefits from the forest
- Environmental values and impact
- Management planning
- Monitoring and assessment
- High conservation values
- Implementation of management activities
Clark’s Botanicals is proud to rely on packaging that is certified by the FSC.
Good for your skin, good for the planet.
